Magu is an electronic device used to detect a magnetic field vector. It is particularly well suited for the use in the avionics, where it can serve as a simple compass, as a bank (roll) corrected compass and as a World Magnetic Model.

Main Functions

  • Magnetic Heading Detection: Calculates current magnetic heading.
  • Bank-Corrected Heading: Adjusts heading based on pitch and roll (Euler angles).
  • True Heading Calculation: Uses geographic position and time to determine true heading.
  • World Magnetic Model (WMM): Provides declination, inclination, and magnetic field values for any location on Earth.

Technical Highlights

  • Lightweight: Only 64 grams.
  • Low Power Consumption: Designed for efficiency.
  • Advanced Calibration: Self-calibrates to correct soft and hard iron errors; factory calibration can be restored.
  • CAN Bus Integration: Sends wind indication and true heading to Kanardia systems like Nesis, Emsis, Horis, and Aetos.

Installation Options

  • Can be mounted in either the nose or tail of the aircraft, depending on orientation requirements.
